Axolotl
The axolotl or axolotl, also known as the water monster, Ambystoma mexicanum is a small aquatic animal (salamander) with the characteristic of retaining its larval traits in its adult life
It is a species that is only found in Mexico, mainly in the aquatic systems of Xochimilco and other areas near CDMX
Its importance also lies in different perspectives such as: medicine and in gastronomy
In gastronomy it has been a highly appreciated food for its flavor and nutritional properties, and it is prepared in tamales, soups and stews
In traditional medicine it is used in syrup, ointment or infusion formulas against respiratory ailments
